Greater Media radio station WRATFM, Lake Como, is holding its annual Thanksgiving season drive “Broadcast for the People of New Jersey” to help local residents. Employees are hoping to fill a 40- foot-long tractor-trailer with items to be donated to three charities.
A live broadcast will take place at ShopRite, Route 66, Neptune, 6 a.m. to midnight on Nov. 24 and 6 a.m. until the trailer is full on Nov. 25. Nonperishable food items will benefit the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
Frozen turkeys will be accepted. Shore Point Distributing is donating a freezer truck for the storage of the turkeys for the two days. New or gently used clothing will be donated to Family Resource Associates. Toiletries such as soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste will be given to Holiday Express. Monetary donations are welcome.
A satellite location is available for making donations at Verizon Wireless, 55 Route 9 South (Epicentre), Manalapan, 3-7 p.m. Nov. 24. For those interested in organizing an office or business drive to help fill the tractor-trailer, Greater Media staff will help unload cars or vans, or coordinate a pickup with a van from an office or business.
