ROBBINSVILLE — Run for a cause other than trying to get the best shopping deal on Black Friday.
Join Jared Miller, a ninth-grade student at Robbinsville High School, has been organizing a yearly fun run and walk in Robbinsville Town Center to help raise money for Special Olympics New Jersey. The event, which is celebrating its third year, won “Robbinsville Event of the Year” in 2012.
In the last two years, the Black Friday Fun Run/Walk has raised over $7,400 for Special Olympics New Jersey. Over 175 people participated in last year’s event.
The third annual Black Friday Fun Run/Walk will be held Friday, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. at the gazebo on Lake Drive in Robbinsville Town Center. The run is 1.25 miles and the walk is 0.62 miles.
“It is not competitive,” Jared said. “It is fun, family-friendly event for all ages.”
A door prize ticket is given to everyone that registers so they have a chance to win one of the many door prizes donated by local businesses at the end of the event.
