PENNINGTON: Holiday Walk coming on Dec. 5

Pennington’s 31st annual Holiday Walk, sponsored by the Pennington Business & Professional Association, will be held in the center of town on Dec. 5, from 6-9 p.m.
The Holiday Walk, a Pennington tradition that marks the beginning of the holiday season, brings the town together for a night of family friendly events and festivities.
The first event will be the lighting of the tree, to take place at 6 p.m. at Howe Commons. Howe Commons is located at 65 S. Main St.. The tree lighting will be accompanied by hot chocolate and cider, compliments of Pennington Bagel and Chicken Dog Café, respectively.
The highlight of the evening for children will be the arrival of Santa, who will make an appearance at Howe Commons just in time to help light the tree.
After the tree lighting, Santa will be escorted to Sun Bank by the Pennington Dance Company and the Hopewell Valley Central High School Brass Band at 6:30 p.m. There, free photos of children with Santa, courtesy of professional photographer Sarah Fuller of Purple Circle Photography, can be taken.
Throughout the evening, there will be a variety activities for the entire family, including a holiday dance performance at 6:45 p.m. at the Trenton Cyrus Lodge at 35 Burd St. The Wallaby Tales Traveling Zoo will bring a presentation to the Pennington Library at 7 p.m.
For teens, the Youth Activity Center at the YMCA (62 S. Main St.) and the Teen Coffee House in Morrell Hall at Pennington Methodist Church will be open from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Throughout the evening, the shops and restaurants of Pennington will be open for shopping, dining and a few holiday surprises.
For the event, Main Street between Academy Avenue and the Borough Hall driveway will be closed to traffic between 6. and 9 p.m., as will Delaware Avenue between Eglantine Avenue and Burd Street.
