Hillsborough-based Spring Reins of Life has been named a 2014 top-rated nonprofit by GreatNonprofits, a provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations.
Spring Reins is the first and currently only model program in the state offering EAP (Equine Assisted Psychotherapy) to veterans and their families, said Christianna Capra, co-founder of SROL.
Also in 2014 SRoL has been awarded a pilot program contract from the N.J. Juvenile Justice Commission to provide EAP services to incarcerated youth at the N.J. Training School), located in Jamesburg.
The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews written by volunteers, donors and clients. People posted their personal experience with the nonprofit.
For example, Kristin Rossi, a volunteer and fundraising committee member, wrote, "I have been with this organization for just over two years. I can honestly say that it has given me more than I could ever give to it. I can’t even count the number of times I hear people rave about the work they do and the lives they save. It is magical to be a part of the process."
Being on the Top-Rated list gives donors and volunteers more confidence that this is a credible organization, said said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits. The reviews by volunteers, clients and other donors show the on-the-ground results of this nonprofit. This award is a form of recognition by the community.
Spring Reins of Life is dedicated to promoting psychological healing, emotional well-being and personal growth using the skills of mental health professionals and the assistance of horses.
