Marcia Karrow and the Hunterdon County Tricentennial Committee will be this year’s grand marshal for the Hunterdon Holiday Parade, set for Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. on Main Street in Flemington.
"We are very excited to honor the Tricentennial Committee, in addition to having Marcia Karrow as our grand marshal for this year’s parade," said Chris Phelan, Chamber of Commerce president. "Marcia, the committee and their team of volunteers worked tirelessly to organize a myriad of exciting and educational events to celebrate the county’s 300th birthday. As residents of this great county, we should all be proud of what the committee has accomplished."
Additionally, the Chamber, along with the Parade Committee, wants to recognize the significance of Dec, 7, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, by honoring veterans, especially World War II veterans, in the parade.
"It is because of the sacrifice our veterans gave to our country that we are able to celebrate our freedom during these joyous times," added Parade Chairwoman Hunterdon County Clerk Mary Melfi.
The Chamber encourages any World War II veteran to participate in the parade, in which they will ride in a dignitary car. If interested, contact the Chamber office at 908-782-7115.
All local businesses and community groups are encouraged to participate in this annual event.
The Hunterdon Holiday Parade provides an opportunity for local businesses and the entire community to interact during this holiday season. Float registration is $25 for nonprofit organizations and $100 for businesses. All groups with the exception of bands must be on a float.
To participate in the parade, the float must have a holiday theme and be approved by the Chamber. For more information or to register, call 908-782-7115 or visit www.hunterdon-chamber.org.
