HILLSBOROUGH: Fire companies agree to escort Santa in town

Two Hillsborough fire companies will get in the spirit of the holiday in upcoming weeks.
The Flagtown Fire Department (Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company No. 1) will continue its annual tradition of escorting Santa around Flagtown and the local neighborhood to visit local children. Santa will deliver token gifts for children 12 years old and younger, as well as candy canes and cheer for kids of all ages.
Santa will make his rounds on Saturday, Dec. 6 (rain date of Dec. 13), beginning at 9 a.m.
Keep the day free and come visit with Santa and local volunteers. Keep an eye out for elves collecting canned goods for the local food bank, if you wish to donate.
Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 will bring Santa around its response area on from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 20 and 21. Have your cameras ready for a picture with Santa.
The company’s annual toy drive is also underway and will run through Dec. 17. Drop boxes have been placed at local business to collect a new unwrapped gift for a child in need. All items collected are provided to the Hillsborough Township Department of Social Services to be distributed to local families.
Boxes are located at JK Design, The Boro Toy Shoppe, Hillsborough Racquet Ball & Fitness Club, Kohl’s, Applebee’s, Century 21, IHOP, Amwell Auto & Tire (Firestone), Stop & Shop, Staples, Provident Bank, the municipal building and Hillsborough Fire Co. No. 2.
