PRINCETON AREA: Police blotter

Princeton
A resident of the 100 block of Leigh Avenue was the victim of a scam when received a call from an individual claiming to be an agent of the Internal Revenue Service on Dec. 4. The unknown individual told the victim he needed to pay $6,945 immediately or he would be arrested. The victim was instructed to purchase several Green Dot cards and provide the numbers off the back of the cards. The victim purchased six cards totaling $3,000 and gave the numbers to the accused before contacting police and being advised of the scam. There are no suspects and the investigation is ongoing.
A woman who works in the an office building on the 400 block of N. Harrison Street reported $102 stolen from her purse, which was left unattended in her cubicle at various times throughout the day on Dec. 2.
A jacket with an iPhone 4 in its pocket was reported stolen from the 200 block of Walnut Lane on Dec. 5.
Lucia Polito, 53, of Princeton, was arrested at 11:48 p.m. on Dec. 5 and charged with drunken driving on Birch Avenue.
Montgomery
Raymond Sohmer, 55, of Belle Mead, was arrested at 7:49 p.m. on Dec. 3 and charged with drunken driving and refusal to submit to breathe testing after police received a report of an erratic driver on Belle Mead-Griggstown Road.
Kevin L. Thompson-Perry Jr., 25, of Monmouth Junction, was arrested on a $250 warrant out of Franklin Township Municipal Court at 7:20 p.m. Nov. 27 in the parking lot at the intersection of Jackson Avenue and McKinley Court. He was also charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams.
West Windsor
Nateria S. Rice, 19, of Trenton, was arrested at 9:07 a.m. on Dec. 1 at Walmart and charged with two counts of shoplifting. The investigation had determined that during her shift on Nov. 30, she completed two separate transactions where she under-rang items. The first incident was for merchandise worth approximately $2,000. The second incident was for merchandise worth approximately $1,500.
A black man approximately 6 feet tall, muscular, with a beard and wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt allegedly stole $39 worth of gas from the Lukoil on Route 1 at 1 p.m. on Dec. 1. The attendant said he had to jump back to avoid having his feet run over while the suspect drove away.
A 54-year-old Long Branch resident reported the theft of her purse while she was at work at 508 Carnegie Center on Dec. 2. The purse contained approximately $40 in cash as well as credit cards and various identification cards.
A 28-year-old Lawrenceville resident reported the theft of her iPhone from inside of her purse at Walmart on Dec. 1.
Someone used a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase merchandise at Wegmans Princeton on Nov. 25.
A 63-year-old West Windsor resident reported the theft of her black mountain bike from the Princeton Junction train station on Dec. 3. The bicycle was valued at $87.
The front passenger’s side window of a vehicle parked in the Marshalls parking lot on Route 1 was broken on Dec. 4 to gain access to an IBM Lenovo laptop, black leather laptop bag and cash. The approximate value of the items stolen is $1,200.
Jaykumar N. Shah, 66, of Monroe, was arrested at 6:10 p.m. on Dec. 5 and charged with drunken driving after a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Alexander Road and Scott Avenue. He was also charged with reckless driving and driving with an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
