Garden club to enjoy annual holiday luncheon
Thurs., Dec. 11 — Neshanic Garden Club’s monthly meeting at 11:30 a.m. will be part of its holiday luncheon at Montgomery United Methodist Church, 117 Sunset Road, off Route 206, in Belle Mead.
In lieu of gift exchange, members are asked to bring donations of canned food or grocery store gift cards for the food pantries of Hillsborough and Montgomery.

Band parents group collects used clothing
Sat., Dec. 13 — High school’s Band Parents Association accepts donations at front entrance to the high school, 466 Raider Blvd., 10 a.m. to noon. Clothing must be in well-tied plastic bags.
Robotics team benefits from flapjack fundraiser
Sat., Dec. 13 — The Hillsborough High School Robotics Team 75 hosts a fundraiser from 8-10 a.m. at the Hillsborough Applebee’s Route 206. Students will serve a pancake breakfast for $10.
Temple Beth El to sell Chanukah, Judaica items
Sun., Dec. 14 — Temple Beth-El will sell Chanukah items (menorahs, dreidels and decorations) and other Judaica items at the Sisterhood Chanukah Shop located at the temple at 67 Route 206 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Blood drive scheduled for Route 206 firehouse
Tues., Dec. 16 — Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset will hold a mobile blood drive from 2-7 p.m. at the Hillsborough Fire Department, 375 Route 206, Hillsborough. Blood supplies are traditionally low during the winter months. All blood donated is used for patients at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset. Blood donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds.

School district musicians hold fund-raising concert
Tues., Dec. 16 — The Hillsborough Grand Staff Ensemble will have its concert of holiday favorites at 7 p.m. at Auten Road Intermediate School, 281 Auten Road. Suggested donations at door are $5 for adults, $2 for students/seniors and $10 for a family. The evening will serve as a "Ronald McDonald House" dropoff location for new unwrapped toys/gifts.
The Grand Staff Ensemble is made up of staff and friends of the school district, under the direction of Nancy Ciacciarelli and Gary Smith. This year’s concert will feature many of your holiday favorites.Proceeds go to a Hillsborough High School senior planning to pursue a degree in music. Donations are accepted. Firehouse will host New Year’s Eve bash
Wed., Dec. 31 — Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. 3 is hosting its annual New Year’s Eve Bash. Buy tickets before Dec. 13 and get $10 off each ticket. $85 per person, or $75 for military, police, fire and EMS personnel. Must be 21 or over. DJ, cocktail hour (shrimp, finger food, lobster bisque), open bar, buffet-style dinner with a prime rib carving station, dessert and coffee, midnight champagne toast, door prizes, party hats and noise makers.

Job seekers group hears about finances
Wed., Jan. 7 — Jewish Family Service hosts free support groups for job seekers who are unemployed, underemployed or seeking a career change.
From 7-9 p.m. at 150-A West High St., Somerville, the presentation will be social media and recruiting, presented by career counselor Elise Prezant.

Cheeleaders organizing comedy show night
Sat., Jan. 10 — Hillsborough High School cheerleaders sponsor a suburban adult humor comedy night, with acts provided by Mark New Comedy Inc., at the Hillsborough/Manville Elks, 1500 Brooks Blvd. Doors open at 8 p.m.; show starts at 9. Cash bar and appetizers for purchase, or bring your own food.

Community theater — Somerset Valley Players presents "Humbug," by John Wooten, from Dec. 5-21 at the theater at 689 Amwell Road (Route 514). It is directed by Tina Lee, with music directed by Thomas Pepitone. The play is a modern and adaptation of the Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol."
Shows are Fridays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Coping with addiction — Parents of Addicted Children helps parents understand and cope with drug problems they are facing, and will face, with their children. Meets first and third Monday of the month, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at Neshanic Reformed Church, 715 Amwell Road.
Alzheimer’s support group — The Alzheimer’s Association has a support group in Hillsborough. Family members and caregivers come together to share information and support in a safe, confidential atmosphere.
Meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Mary, Mother of God Church at 157 So. Triangle Road. Call 908-431-1300 if attending.
Divorce support group — A nondenominational support group to help separated and divorced people to a new beginning.
The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church, Route 206 at Homestead Road. Call 908-295-6740.
