NEW HOPE: Many attend society’s Holiday ‘Spirited’ Tea

The sounds of "Silver Bells" and "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer"— belted out by more than 150 members and guests led by Bob Egan — could be heard at both ends of Main Street on Dec. 7, as the New Hope Historical Society held its annual Holiday "Spirited" Tea at the Parry Mansion.
Several guest Santas were among those attending.
"This was one of the largest crowds that we have ever hosted at what is arguably becoming New Hope’s most popular holiday party," said Dee Dee Bowman, president of the Historical Society.
"Laurie Madaus, board member, and Steve Szymanek led the committee that included Anna and Gary Cesnik, Chuck and Pearl Mintzer, Bob McCaskey, Carole and David Martin, Ed Hoy, Sue Santoni, Dee Dee and Ernie Bowman and Edwin Hild. The team decorated the Parry Mansion in holiday splendor and planned a party that was enjoyed by all," added Ms. Bowman.
Throughout the evening, board members took turns pouring the "spirited" tea into cups that had been donated to the Historical Society in the 1960s by members and friends as part of the original fundraiser to renovate the 1784 Parry Mansion.
Guests brought hors d’oeuvres ranging from shrimp cocktail, to Swedish meatballs, stuffed Belgian endive, deviled eggs, antipasto, assorted cheese dishes, cocktail sandwiches, homemade cakes, cookies and chocolates and more, assuring that the festive crowd had a variety of treats to accompany the "Spirited" tea and wine provided by the society.
The New Hope Historical Society will participate in the Lambertville-New Hope Winter Festival in January 2015. Tours of the Parry Mansion and walking tours of historic New Hope will be presented on Jan. 24 and 25 from 1-4 p.m.
