EAST WINDSOR — The local East Windsor Policemens Benevolent Association Local #191 received a donation from various local businesses and organizations which helped them to purchase a trailer to support them as they participate in various charitable events.
"This trailer will support our members who are involved in various aspects of charitable events ranging from local philanthropy of food drives to regional events involving Special Olympics and national events like the Police Unity Tour," said PBA President Wayne Hummel.
The official donation ceremony took place at Shiseido America on Dec. 19 at 9:30 a.m. during which members of the P.B.A. including Patrol Officer David Berez and Patrol Officer Michael Greco, Joshua Harr Shane Foundation members Judy Shane and Bree Shane, Executive Director of Operations for Shiseido America Tom Halligan, Facilities Engineer at Shiseido America Chris McFadden and President and Chief Operating Officer at Shiseido America Ed Houlihan were present for the presentation.
The $3,900 unit is a seven-foot by 16 foot enclosed cargo trailer.
"The involved organizations were contacted directly with a proposal and, without hesitation, offered to be part of the project," he said. "The trailer was picked up in November and lettered in early December"
Shiseido America, The Joshua Harr Shane Foundation, Shop Rite of East Windsor and Sign-It donated money towards the trailer.
"With your support, we are now better equipped as we continue to give back to our shared community," he said. "This trailer will support our members who are involved in various aspects of charitable events ranging from local philanthropy of food drives to regional events involving Special Olympics and national events like the Police Unity Tour. Thank you again for your partnership and support."
He said community is about partnerships and supporting each other.
"We appreciate the bonds we have formed in the East Windsor community to be better able to assist others and help raise awareness for organizations promoted through the events we participate in," he said.
He said that they are part of the local community and community at large both on and off duty.
"We have participated in community events since the inception of the PBA many years ago, but our involvement has often gone unnoticed," he said. "The trailer will help with logistics such as storage and transport for events and give the PBA visibility during these events. We have always been there but now you will see us. As police officers, we work to make this world a better place to live and positively affect those in our community."
We look forward to meeting more residents of the community at the attended events, he added.
"When you see the trailer around town or anywhere we are participating in an event, come up and say hi and introduce yourself," he said.
