EAST WINDSOR — Mayor Janice Mironov announced that Patel Brothers grocery store will be opening in the former Genuardi’s in East Windsor Village located on Princeton Hightstown Road, according to a township press release.
“We are excited to welcome an experienced successfully established grocery chain to this available space as a shopping option for residents of our community,” said Mayor Mironov in the press release. “East Windsor Village is a vibrant shopping center with popular stores and much activity, and it is great news that this grocery store chain will now occupy this vacant space.”
The new grocery store is scheduled to open in March and will occupy 22,300 square feet in the East Windsor Village, which features popular stores including Target, TJMaxx and the newest announced tenant, Kay Jewelers.
Patel Brothers is a U.S. based grocery retail chain that focuses on flavors and foods found in the Indian sub-continent and the Middle East.
It offers a full line of groceries including dry goods, frozen items and fresh produce.
The Patel Brothers has 52 nationwide locations and continues to grow with several new locations planned this year, according to its website.
New Jersey locations include North Brunswick, South Amboy, Iselin, Jersey City and Parsippany.
“Our rich heritage is closely linked to our culinary traditions. Many Indian traditions and beliefs are directly related to the foods we eat and the dishes we prepare,” according to its website. “With the strict vegetarian diets found in many areas of India, ingredients like dals, lentils, and rice are nutritional cornerstones of Indian cuisine. The culinary diversity of India’s various regions is tied together by a common thread; no Indian meal would be complete without the intense flavor of aromatic, all-natural Indian spices”.
Mayor Mironov said that the Patel Brothers grocery store will immediately create approximately 20 full-time jobs and many other part-time jobs in the community, which is always a welcome boost to the local economy.
“The decision of Patel Brothers grocery store to expand their company in East Windsor is another sign of the strong attraction of East Windsor as a location for new stores and restaurants,” she said.
At Patel Brothers, the mission is to bring the best ingredients from around the world, right to your doorstep. With a wide variety of authentic regional ingredients, they strive to reconnect people with the familiar flavor of India, according to its website.
