ROBBINSVILLE — The local branch of the Mercer County Library System has scheduled adult and children’s programs in January.
”An Afternoon at the Movies” will start at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8. The late Philip Seymour Hoffman gives his final screen performance in this story about a Chechen Muslim who illegally immigrates to Hamburg where he gets caught in the international war on terror. Based on a John le Carré spy novel, this film also stars Rachel McAdams, Robin Wright and Willem Dafoe.
”New Year, New You” will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13.
Counseling educator and therapist Diane Lang will demonstrate how to thrive through transition and feelings of stagnation, how to change and how to be happy and healthy in the new year.
”Mother/Daughter Self-Esteem” will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, to informally explore concerns and learn how the Supporting Adolescent Girls Emotionally program can offer support during this transitional time. It will be presented by Leslie Azaroff and Jill Portaro.
Experience deep relaxation, mental clarity and stress relief through breathing techniques, meditation and light yoga at “Art of Living: Mind & Meditation Workshop” from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17.
Representatives from the Enroll America will present an informative session on “Get Covered America: Understanding Affordable Health Insurance” from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17.

Discover how the practice of mindfulness can help during “Mindful Eating” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Joseph Wieliczdo will demonstrate how to identify and change poor eating patterns, eat in a peaceful, stress-free way, know the difference between physical and feeling-based hunger, understand different kinds of hunger, learn the guidelines to mindful eating and use senses to choose satisfying, nurturing foods.
”Understanding Your Social Security Benefits” will take place at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22.

Come to “Classical Dance of India Workshop” at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, to learn about Bharatanatyam, the oldest form of traditional Indian dance, which combines dance, yoga and aerobics.
Instructor Cecilia Smitha Jackson will teach some basic steps in this interactive workshop.
Volunteers from AARP will offer tax help from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25; March 4, 11, 18 and 25; and April 1, 8 and 15.

Toddler storytime is a half-hour program for children ages 2 and 3 accompanied by an adult Tuesdays at 10 a.m., Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. or Thursdays at 10 a.m. Preschool storytime is a half-hour program for children ages 4 and 5 Mondays at 2 p.m. or Thursdays at 11 a.m. Classes begin the week of Jan. 12 and will run through the week of Feb. 16.
Babytime is for children ages 6 months to 24 months, accompanied by an adult. Classes will be held at 10:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27.
”Create a…” will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13; Tuesday, Jan. 20; and Tuesday, Jan. 27. It is for children of all ages accompanied by an adult. Registration is not required.
”Sing Along with Miss Amy” will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 9. This music program is for children of all ages, accompanied by an adult.
Drop in and create winter-themed projects at “Winter Creation Station” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10. This program is for children of all ages, accompanied by an adult. Registration is not required.
”Story time with STEAM” takes place Saturday, Jan. 10, at 10 a.m.; Saturday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m.
School-age children will enjoy science experiments and crafts conducted by Girl Scout Cadette Troop 70538 under the supervision of library staff. Grades K-3.
”Toddler Tunes” will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23.
This music program is for children of all ages, accompanied by an adult. Online registration begins Jan. 9.
”Introducing Crazy 8’s Math Club” features hands-on games that get kids fired up about math at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, for grades K-2. Online registration begins Jan. 12.
”Mitten Fun with the MOMS Club” will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Jan. 30.
