Thurs., Jan. 15 — Elise Prezant, career counselor at Jewish Family Service, will talk about “Tips for Completing Online Applications” at a free Job Seekers support group meeting from 10 a.m. to noon at the United Way of Hunterdon County’s office in Suite 401, 4 Walter Foran Blvd., Flemington.

Free rabies vaccinations for dogs, cats
Sat., Jan, 17 — Free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs and cats, 10 a.m. to noon, public works garage, 21 East Mountain Road (next to the YMCA). No registration necessary. Check website the morning of clinic in case of cancellation. Cats must be in a secure box or carrier, and dogs must be leashed.
Garden club to learn about medicinal plants
Thurs., Jan. 22 — Rachel Mackow, a writer, naturalist, photographer and co-owner of Wild Ridge Plants, will speak on native edible and medicinal plants to the Neshanic Garden Club at its monthly meeting at 9:45 a.m. at the Montgomery United Methodist Church, 117 Sunset Road, off Route 206 South in Belle Mead. Ms. Mackow will introduce the practice of foraging and describe the benefits and uses of wildflowers.
Diana Reinhardt will demonstrate the element of line and the principle of rhythm in flower arranging.
Bring a bag lunch and lug a mug; dessert and beverage only will be served at noon. Prospective members are encouraged to attend. For information, contact club president Barbara Zielsdorff at 908-359-1750.
Church will serve roast pork dinner
Sat., Jan. 24 — A roast pork dinner and bake sale will be held at the South Branch Reformed Church, 870 River Road, 4:30-7 p.m. The cost is $14 for adults, $6 for children 6-10 and free for children under 5. For reservations (not required, but suggested), call 908-369-4956. Take-outs will be available.
Cheerleaders collect food at game
Tues., Jan. 27 — Hillsborough High School cheerleading teams will collect non-perishable donations for the township food bank at the varsity boys’ basketball game against Bridgewater. There will be a collection box near the entrance of the gym. Cash contributions are also welcome.
Baseball team to serve pancakes
Sun., Feb. 1 — Hillsborough High School baseball program will hold its annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the municipal building on South Branch Road. Pancakes, sausages, omelettes, bagels. $8 at door.
‘Career coach’ to lead job program
Wed., Feb. 4 — “Career coach” Alex Freund will lead a free session on “Getting Yourself a Job: Here’s How” at a Job Seekers support group meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. at 150-A West High Street, Somerville.
The program is organized by Jewish Family Service of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties for job seekers who are unemployed, underemployed or seeking a career change.

Sale of evening dresses boosts Project Graduation
Sat., Feb. 7 — Hillsborough High School Project Graduation is sponsoring a sale of new and gently worn eveningwear dresses for all occasions from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the front lobby of the high school. All dresses will be affordably priced from $20 to $40 with all proceeds benefiting the Class of 2015 Project Graduation event.Dresses include those for proms, homecoming, parties, sweet 16 affairs, bar/bat mitzvahs, weddings, short cocktail dresses and long gowns. Garden club will go on statewide virtual tour
Thurs., Feb. 26 — Jean Stives will demonstrate the element of light and the principle of balance in her finished design in a flower arranging enrichment segment at the Neshanic Garden Club’s monthly meeting at 9:45 a.m. at the Montgomery United Methodist Church, 117 Sunset Road, Belle Mead.
Lesley Parness, a member of the Garden State Gardens Consortium, will lead a virtual tour of more than 20 of New Jersey’s public gardens.

Continuing events
Alzheimer’s support group — The Alzheimer’s Association has a support group in Hillsborough. Family members and caregivers come together to share information and support in a safe, confidential atmosphere.
Meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Mary, Mother of God Church at 157 So. Triangle Road. Call 908-431-1300 if attending.
