Hopewell Township police Lt. Christopher H. Kascik reported:
— On Jan. 2 at 12:13 p.m., Officer Mandy Grey stopped the driver of a 2003 Nissan for a motor vehicle violation on Scotch Road. While speaking to the driver, identified as Summer R. Logan, 60, of Pennington Avenue, Trenton, a no-bail warrant from the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office for failing to appear on a welfare fraud charge was located. He was placed under arrest.
The officer then spoke with the front-seat passenger, identified as Janet C. Logan, 54, of Beakes Street. While speaking with Ms. Logan, warrants for her arrest were located from Lawrence, Ewing and Jackson townships. She also was placed under arrest.
A third occupant of the car was identified as Todd M. Logan, 58, of Perry Street, Trenton, who was found to have outstanding warrants from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department for failure to appear on a drug charge and a contempt warrant from Bordentown Township. He also was placed under arrest.
With the assistance of other officers, the three Logans were transported to police headquarters. The results were as follows:
Todd Logan was processed and incarcerated at Mercer County Correction Center on the Mercer County Sheriff’s warrant.
Summer Logan was processed and incarcerated at the Mercer County Correction Center on the Bucks County Sheriff’s warrant. He also was cited for having a view obstruction.
Janet Logan was processed and released after posting bail on her warrants.
These cases will be heard in Municipal Court and Superior Court.
— On Jan. 4 at 9:34 p.m., Officer George Peterson stopped the driver of a 2003 Toyota sedan for a motor vehicle violation on Bayberry Road. While speaking with the driver, identified as Joseph A. Gambino III, 19, of Brandon Road, Lawrenceville, the officer smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
After a consent search of the vehicle, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia (pipe) were located in the vehicle. Mr. Gambino was transported to police headquarters, processed and released after being charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. His case will be heard in Municipal Court.
— On Dec. 30 at 10 a.m., Officer Michael Toth went to the Hopewell Valley Car Wash to check out a report of a theft. The officer was told that sometime overnight someone had pried open the coin holders for the self-vacuum islands and removed the coins inside. The coin loss was estimated at $30. However, the damage to the machines was estimated at $15,000.
— On Jan. 3 at 11:10 p.m., Officer Mark Panzano went to East Broad Street near Seminary Avenue in Hopewell Borough to investigate a report of an assault.
Upon arrival, he found a man, identified as Jancinto Chinguil, 29, of South Greenwood Avenue, Hopewell, with injuries to his face.
Police said a friend at the scene stated that Mr. Chinguil had been assaulted by three men.
The investigation revealed that the victim and three men — identified as Robert B. Lewis, 59, of Railroad Place Hopewell; Warren C. Lewis Jr., 54, of Jarman Street, Jacksonville, South Carolina; and Gary W. Lewis, 56, of Snydertown Road, Hopewell Township — had been drinking alcohol nearby and at some point an assault occurred. All four parties were placed under arrest and charged as follows: Robert Lewis, assault; Warren Lewis Jr., assault; Gary Lewis, assault; and Mr. Chinguil, disorderly conduct.
Mr. Chinguil was transported to the hospital by the Hopewell Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Unit for treatment of minor injuries.
Gary Lewis, who sustained facial lacerations, refused medical treatment.
These cases will be heard in Municipal Court.
— On Jan. 5, Officer William Gaskill went to several residences on Arvida Drive (Elm Ridge Park) to investigate reports of criminal mischief. He spoke with several homeowners who said that sometime overnight unknown person(s) had pulled their mailboxes from the ground, including the bases, and/or damaged Christmas lights that were outside their residences. Anyone with information on the damage is asked to contact the police department (609-737-3100).
— On Jan. 6 at 5 p.m., Officer James Klesney met with a resident of Knox Court, Pennington, about a report of ongoing thefts from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that over the course of the past several weeks unknown parties had entered her vehicle, which was parked in front of her residence, and had taken approximately $650 in cash and coins, as well as clothing and a GPS unit. The total loss was estimated at $840.
— On Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m., Officer Sara Erwin and Detective Louis Vastola investigated the burglary of two houses on Todd Ridge Road. These had occurred sometime in the late afternoon of Jan. 10.
At the residences, entry was made and numerous pieces of jewelry, as well as a safe, were stolen. The loss was estimated at several thousands of dollars.
“Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area of Todd Ridge Road during the time frame in question” is asked to call Detective Vastola at 609-737-3100, ext. 532, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
— On Jan. 7 at 3:07 p.m., Officer James Rosso went detailed to Pennington- Harbourton Road to investigate a report of a suspicious person.
When he arrived he spoke with the subject, identified as Nicholas P. Stanko, 39, of Route 37 West, Toms River. Mr. Stanko was found to have a warrant from Wall Township issued for his arrest. He was transported to police headquarters, posted bail and was released.
