A proposed bond ordinance that would add $55,000, reimbursable from a federal agency, to install emergency generators at the city library and at the Phillip L. Pittore Justice Center was approved Tuesday by Lambertville City Council.
If adopted, as expected, by the council on Feb. 17, the $55,000 would be covered by $156,663 in funding for the project from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency).
After Hurricane Sandy, the city decided to install the two generators to ensure sources of electric power during major outages.
A RESOLUTION was approved that authorizes the appointment of Derek Roseman as the city’s communications and press aide, at a rate not to exceed $1,200 per month.
Mr. Roseman, a city resident, is a member of the South Hunterdon Regional Board of Education.
The school district served by that board was formed last year, when the Lambertville, West Amwell and Stockton elementary school districts and the South Hunterdon Regional High School district merged into one.
Also OK’d Tuesday was a resolution that authorizes the city’s mayor and clerk to sign a contract with Covanta, which runs energy-from-waste facilities.
Under the contract, Covanta will accept the city’s garbage for $69.50 per ton, plus a $ per ton New Jersey recycling tax.
