MANVILLE: Resident rrports cash taken from unlocked vehicle

Police blotter, issue of Jan. 29

A Dominic Street resident reported on Jan. 19 about $40 worth of cash was stolen from her unlocked vehicle sometime between Jan. 16 and 19. This is an active investigation.
— The Manville Rescue Squad turned in a woman’s Michael Kors watch left in the ambulance by a woman from Piscataway. Contact was made with the woman’s mother on Jan. 19 and she said she would come to headquarters on Jan. 20 to pick it up.
— A dead deer was removed from Newark Avenue near Weston Elementary School on Jan. 19.
— A pair of green aviator Michael Kors sunglasses was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Florence Court on Jan. 20. The value of the sunglasses was put at $130.
— A woman living on W. Camplain Road reported on Jan. 20 that two packages left on her porch by the post office on Jan. 8 were stolen. The packages contained jewelry and clothing valued at $137.
— A South Street resident was advised on Jan. 20 to remove couches and other bulk trash from the sidewalk in front of her home until the bulk trash pick-up date of March 3.
— A 22-year-old Manville man, walking in the marked crosswalk at S. Main and William streets, was struck by a car driven by Thomas Caliendo, 61, of Woodside, N.Y., at about 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 20. The driver was issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to yield to a pedestrian.
— A man from Sidorski Avenue reported on Jan. 21 that about $155 worth of merchandise was taken from his vehicle during the overnight hours.
— A Harrison Avenue resident reported on Jan. 21 that $10-$12 in change was stolen from his unlocked vehicle sometime overnight.
— Edward Iannacone, of Wyoming Place, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at 12:17 p.m. Jan. 21 for entering traffic on S. Main Street, gesturing with his middle finger and shouting at a motorist. He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, Somerset.
— Police responded to the Wal-Mart parking lot on Jan. 21 where a woman accused of shoplifting had gotten into a Cadillac. The woman went back inside the store to return the items and Wal-Mart personnel said they would handle the issue. No further police action was taken.
— A 22-year-old man was taken from the Arc of Somerset at 141 S. Main St. to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, Somerset for an alcohol-related issue at 4:31 p.m. Jan. 21.
— Siya Latty of E. Camplain Road came to headquarters to post $300 bail on a pending warrant on Jan. 21. She was processed and released.
— Patrol checked a N. 19th Avenue neighborhood around 7:30 p.m. Jan. 21 because a resident reported a suspicious vehicle with two young men in it parked there. The car was gone when police arrived.
— Joseph Vadimski III, 46, of Manville, was arrested Jan. 21 and charged with driving with a suspended license and also for a pending warrant out of Hillsborough. He was processed and released after posting cash bail in full.
— John Hartrum, 50, of Bridgewater was arrested and charged with shoplifting $162.57 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart on Jan. 22. He was processed and released.
— A woman from N. 15th Avenue came to headquarters to report someone tried to open a Pay-Pal account but the account was detected as fraudulent by the Pay-Pal fraud department and declined. The incident was reported as a matter of record on Jan. 22, as instructed by Pay-Pal.
— A N. Bank Street resident came to headquarters on Jan. 22 to report an attempted fraudulent transaction. She gave a man from a company called “Click for U” access to her computer and her Bank of America checking account. She advised Bank of America, which prevented any fraudulent transaction and closed her account. The incident was reported as a matter of record, per Bank of America.
— William Fahey, 57, of Reading Street was arrested on Jan. 22 and charged with shoplifting $27.76 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart. He was also served with four warrants out of Manville totaling $1,250 and one for $500 out of Bound Brook. He was taken to the Somerset County Jail.
— A S. 6th Avenue man reported on Friday that his front license plate, had fallen off his vehicle and is lost.
— A woman from Somerset reported losing her brown clutch purse in the Wal-Mart parking lot on North Main Street on Friday.
— Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart at 4:12 p.m. Friday where a woman from Somerville said she had left her wallet on the counter at the pharmacy window and it had been taken. The wallet contained $40 cash, credit cards and her driver’s license. Later, another woman from Somerville turned the wallet in at headquarters. It was returned to the owner. Nothing was missing.
— Christina Paraskevopoulos, of Middlesex, was arrested Friday and charged with shoplifting five pieces of clothing totaling $70.46 from Wal-Mart. She was processed and released.
— Quincy V. Houston, 21, of Princess Anne, Maryland, was arrested Saturday and charged with shoplifting a phone case valued at $84.22 from Wal-Mart. He was also charged with possession of marijuana and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia. Bail was set at $2,000 with 10 percent. He posted $200 cash bail and was released.
— William McGlinchey, 49, of S. Main Street was arrested and charged with shoplifting from Walmart. He also had a pending Manville warrant. He posted $89 bail on the warrant and was processed and released.
