HOPEWELL VALLEY: PARCC session set at TMS

The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) assessment tests will be administered to students in grades three through 11 this March.
A letter to parents and guardians from schools Superintendent Thomas Smith about PARCC was sent on Jan. 30.
Rosetta D. Treece, principal of Timberlane Middle School, has announced that a meeting will be held Friday (Feb. 13) at 9 a.m. in the Timberlane Eighth Grade House Center.
“This will be an information session for any parent who still may have questions about the PARCC. The presentation also will be posted on the Timberlane website for those parents who cannot attend that meeting.
“The PARCC Assessment requires students to use headphones. If an effort to ensure comfort and cleanliness, we are asking TMS students to use their own headphones. Any type of headphones is appropriate. We are asking your child to bring a set of headphones on the following dates: eighth grade — Feb. 24 (to math class); seventh grade — March 3 (to math class); sixth grade — March 10 (to homeroom),” said Ms. Treece.
“We will provide a headset for any student who does not have one. Headphones will remain at school until the end of your child’s testing cycle,” she noted.
At the middle school, the PARCC test will be given in the mornings of the weeks of March 2 through 24. The testing schedule is as follows: eighth grade, week of March 2; seventh grade, week of March 9; sixth grade, week of March 16. Make-ups will be during the week of March 23.
BRUCE ARCURIO’S presentation to interested parents at Hopewell Elementary School during a Feb. 11 session should be appearing now on the Hopewell Elementary School website for those parents who could not attend the meeting.
