Hunterdon County leaders will get their wish. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed PennEast pipeline in Hunterdon County next week.
The hearing will begin at 6 p.m. Feb. 26, at The Grand Colonial, 86 Route 173 on the westbound service road of Route 78. Another hearing will be held Feb. 25, at the West Trenton Ballroom, West Ferry Road, Ewing.
FERC had scheduled only one hearing — and that was cancelled by bad weather — in New Jersey on the proposal to build a 108-mile pipeline that would carry natural gas from northeastern Pennsylvania to a larger pipeline in Mercer County.
The route would go through several Hunterdon communities east of the Delaware River, including West Amwell Township, and come near Lambertville.
Congressman Leonard Lance, a Republican who represents most of Hunterdon, asked FERC to schedule a local hearing.
