The Home Depot Donation Keeps Things “Cool” at Interfaith Caregivers

By Jane Latini
Hamilton, NJ n March 1, 2015 n The Home Depot in Hamilton recently donated a Vissani 10 cubic foot top freezer refrigerator to Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County. The first full-size refrigerator that the nonprofit has ever owned will be used to store food and drink donated for homebound clients, as well as perishables for staff and volunteer gatherings.
ICGMC Executive Director Jane Latini states, “This gift is a real blessing and will enable us to better serve our care receivers and volunteers. Interfaith Caregivers is all about neighbors helping neighbors—and we deeply appreciate the fact that The Home Depot is such a great corporate neighbor!”
With more than 350 active volunteers from 28 interdenominational congregations, ICGMC provides free volunteer caregiving, including transportation to doctors’ offices, grocery shopping, friendly visiting, respite care, light housekeeping, telephone reassurance, occasional meal preparation, indoor/outdoor chores, minor home repairs and other non-medical help, to homebound seniors and people with disabilities throughout Mercer County. Such services help care receivers age in their homes independently, safely and with dignity, thereby avoiding institutionalization. Volunteers are professionally screened and trained, and all services are provided without proselytization or regard to religious affiliation.
The nonprofit relies on more than dedicated volunteers throughout Mercer County, as well as individual, corporate, foundation and government support. To request services, volunteer or support Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County, visit www.icgmc.org or call 609-393-9922.
