Senior Corner column
The Manville Senior Citizens meet at noon on the second Thursday of each month at the VFW on Washington Avenue. Residents of Manville age 50 and older are eligible for membership. Also, persons who do not remain residents of Manville are still eligible for membership.
Membership has reopened for 2015.
Canned goods or nonperishable food items will continue to be collected before each meeting. Remember to bring one item per member to stock the Food Bank.
Blood pressure screening for members is held before the beginning of each meeting, starting at 11:30 a.m.
The executive board will continue to hold its meetings on the Thursday prior to the regular meeting.
Nick Trilone will collect 2015 dues at the March 12 meeting. All dues should be paid by the meeting.
The weather was a factor in the cancellation of the PBA and Recreation Department luncheon. It will be held later in March.
Stephanie Cornelson from the Recreation Department has schedules for the spring fitness and exercise classes.
Tax Collector Lisa Gerickont says the green assessment card received from the county must be corrected if you filed a tax appeal for 2014. See her at the Borough Hall so the correction can be made.
Recreation events
Hunterdon Hills Playhouse, near Clinton, on Sunday, March 22, to see “Abie’s Irish Rose.” Cost is $69. Contact Josephine Pschar at 908-722-0156. The trip is open to the public.
May 2-8 — Mackinac Island, Michigan, including Frankenmuth (Little Bavaria), Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Fallingwater,” Mackinac Island carriage tour, Old Fort Mackinac, boat tour through Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Grand Hotel luncheon buffet, Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland and one night at the Mountaineer Racetrack & Casino in Chester, West Virginia.
Cost is $905 double occupancy with a $301 deposit due now, a second payment due Feb. 15 and final payment March 15. Contact Josephine Pschar at 908-722-0156. This trip is open to the public.
