LAWRENCE: Justic Sumners re-nominated to Superior Court bench

    Judge Thomas W. Sumners Jr., who lives in Lawrence Township, has been nominated for reappointment to Mercer County state Superior Court by Gov. Chris Christie, according to a press release issued by the Governor’s Office.
    Gov. Christie made the nomination to the State Senate. Judicial nominations are subject to the advice and consent of the State Senate. Judge Sumners’ nomination for reappointment is one of seven made by Gov. Christie.
    Judge Sumners was appointed to Mercer County state Superior Court by then-Gov. Jon Corzine in 2008. The judge is a member of The Hun School of Princeton’s Class of 1976. He graduated from Lafayette College in 1980 and earned a law degree from Rutgers School of Law in Newark in 1984.
    Judge Sumners practiced with the Trenton law firm of Sumners George. He is a former attorney for the City of Trenton Board of Education. 
