The Environmental Commission of Little Silver is sponsoring a Little Silver Environmental Day from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 28 at the Women’s Club of Little Silver at 111 Church St.
The event will feature a free compost workshop from 10-10:45 a.m. An Earth Machine composter will be available to purchase for $35, but registration is required by contacting Bonnie Akey at [email protected] or the Monmouth County recycling coordinator at 732-683-8686, ext. 6721.
Displays on local environmental and historical topics will be provided by the Environmental
Commission of Little Silver, Little Silver Garden Club and the Parker Homestead-1665 history museum.
Guided trail hikes will be led by local environmentalists. Explore a frog pond and duck boxes and look for turtles, hawks and other wildlife at the property surrounding Parker Homestead-1665. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
There will be an electronics waste collection (anything with a cord). Televisions will be accepted for a $7 recycling fee. For more information, call 732-922-3320 or visit www.computerreclamation.com.
Monmouth County residents can also bring televisions to the Monmouth County Reclamation Center where televisions are recycled free of charge. Call 732-683-8686 for information.
Gently used clothing, linens and shoes will be collected for the non-profit organization Rescue Mission of Trenton.
On-site document shredding will be provided by SafeGuard Document Destruction. Only papers, including those with staples or paper clips, and hard- and softcover books will be accepted. When the truck has reached its capacity, it will depart.
