Police charge two in burglary spree

Two area men have been charged in connection with burglaries that occurred at more than a dozen homes in Marlboro, Manalapan, Millstone Township and Englishtown.

The accused individuals are allegedly responsible for thefts that amounted to more than $100,000 from the four communities, Manalapan Deputy Police Chief Michael Fountain said in a press release.

Sherif Michael, 32, of Manalapan, and Dmitri Snovsky, 29, of Englishtown, were charged in connection with the crimes. Their alleged crime spree began in August 2014 and continued through February 2015.

A multijurisdictional joint task force of local police officers and the New Jersey State Police conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of the two men, according to police.

Michael was charged with four counts of burglary and theft, with his bail set at $140,000 for the Marlboro incidents, and an additional six counts of burglary and theft, and one count of an attempted burglary, for the incidents in Manalapan, where an additional bail was set at $293,000.

Snovsky was charged with four counts of burglary and theft, with his bail set at $135,000 for the Marlboro burglaries, and charged in Manalapan with two counts of burglary and one count of attempted burglary, with an additional bail set at $171,000.

Both men were placed in the Monmouth County jail.

The lead officers on the case were Marlboro Detective David Glenny and Manalapan Detective Kevin Schmidt.

Assisting in the investigation were Detective Eric Hays, Detective Sgt. Jay Fox and Detective Lt. Joseph Tomazic of Marlboro; Detective Charles Alaimo and Patrolman John Lightbody of Manalapan; Englishtown Detective Alex Dinicola; and Detective Sgt. Angel Cruz, Detective Giuseppe Diodati and Detective Jared Boyd of the New Jersey State Police.
