JACKSON — A mayoral proclamation was recently presented by the Township Council to Jackson’s law enforcement and emergency services personnel who volunteered their time for last year’s Toys 4 Tots drive.
The drive, which originated with the U.S. Marine Corps, saw members of the Jackson Police Department and Jackson Fire Station 55 working to collect toys during the holiday season. The toys were given to children who otherwise may not have received any gifts.
Council President Barry Calogero said the toy drive was another example of Jackson residents working to help one another.
“The spirit of Jackson is alive and well. It is a great place to live and this is one of the few times … we can honor people in a nice and respectable way,” Calogero said.
