PRINCETON: Ironworker injured on university construction site nine years ago settles for $1.2 million

An injured ironworker accepted a $1.2 million settlement to end a lawsuit that he brought after being hurt on a construction site nearly nine years ago at Princeton University.
Albert Leip, 54, was working on the site of the Lewis Science Library when he was injured in a fall Aug.29, 2006, after a 600-pound piece of steel struck a scaffold that he was standing on. He and a co-worker fell some 10 feet, with Mr. Leip suffering a concussion and claiming he was permanently disabled due to suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, according to his lawyers.
His civil lawsuit named the university, general contractor Skanska and subcontractor Central Metals. The school and Central Metals were dismissed as defendants in the case, leaving Skanska.
Mr. Leip settled with Skanska in February in the middle of jury deliberations in Mercer County, said one of his lawyers, Michael G. Donahue, on Tuesday.
Mr. Leip, formerly of Hamilton, lives with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Mr. Donahue said.
