Parade participants sought in Metuchen

METUCHEN — The borough’s 88th annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, with the theme, “Land of the Free, Home of the Brave,” will feature Grand Marshal Rob Donnan, combat medical specialist in the U.S. Army.

Set for 10 a.m. May 25, the rain-or-shine parade and ceremony are hosted by the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce. The chamber invites all members and nonmembers, civic groups and businesses to participate in the parade, along with all veterans and active-duty personnel who are home on leave.

Registration for the parade can be done online by visiting www.metuchenchamberexchange.com or by calling 732-548- 2964. Veterans and active-duty personnel should contact the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce by May 15 so that special arrangements can be made for their participation.

The parade will kick off from the Pearl Street parking lot, then will proceed down New Street, turn right at Main Street, follow Main Street through town, turn right at Brunswick Avenue and end at Edgar Middle School.

The Memorial Day Ceremony will take place in the gymnasium at Edgar Middle School, 49 Brunswick Ave., at the conclusion of the parade. A map of the route is available on the chamber’s website.
