The Navesink Garden Club recently awarded the $1,000 Mary Cain Scholarship to Leif Pettersen, an environmental science major at Brookdale Community College.
Club members President Irene Saputo and Awards Chairperson Jo McKeon-Hutton presented the scholarship to Pettersen during the Scholarship Recognition Ceremony, which was held March 25 at Brookdale Community College.
Scholarship applicants had to be enrolled in horticultural, design or environmental studies. Pettersen plans to become a state or county park manager.
The Navesink Garden Club invites people interested in horticulture and design to join the club. Meetings are held 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at The Atrium.
