MILLSTONE — Three residents will seek two seats on the Township Committee in November.
Incumbent Republicans Nancy Grbelja and Gary Dorfman will seek to remain on the governing body, while Democrat Raymond Dothard will seek to give his party a voice in Millstone Township.
The deadline to file a nominating petition was March 30. Two three-year terms will be on the ballot on Nov. 3.
Dothard, 73, has lived in Millstone for 24 years. He is a retired airline pilot and former Federal Aviation Authority safety inspector. Dothard was unavailable for comment last week.
Dothard ran for a committee seat in 2014. At that time, he spoke about bringing years of experience in leadership and program development to the committee dais. He said he wanted to offer a unique perspective and creative problem-solving abilities to move Millstone toward a bright and stable future.
Grbelja, 60, has served on the committee for 12 years. She moved to Millstone 17 years ago. For the past 22 years, Grbelja has been employed as a labor negotiator/field representative in the education field. She is also actively involved in the horse racing industry.
Dorfman, 53, has served on the committee for six years. He has lived in Millstone for more than 16 years with his wife, Janice, and their sons, Adam, Buddy and Andrew. Dorfman is vice president of a technology and business process solutions company.
In a prepared statement, Grbelja and Dorfman said, “We are both seeking reelection because we are proud of the achievements and good government in Millstone that we have worked hard to provide.
“Together, we have helped Millstone achieve the lowest municipal tax rate in Monmouth County, a master zoning plan that is the envy of other communities, and excellent support from the county and state.
“Collectively, this Township Committee works well together because we possess complementary skills and experiences. The diversity of the committee enables us to meet the demands of all parts of our community.”
