Freehold Borough resident charged in string of Howell thefts

HOWELL — A Freehold Borough resident has been charged with illegally entering five businesses in Howell and committing thefts at three of those locations.

Isiah Casrell, 28, was charged in connection with multiple incidents that occurred in Howell on March 19, according to complaint warrants released by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities allege that Casrell committed five acts of criminal mischief by breaking the glass in the front door at the Stakul Spirit Shop, Nicole’s Many Stylez Salon, Lukoil, Essence Nail Spa, and Ice Cream on 9. All of the businesses are on Route 9.

The authorities allege that Casrell committed thefts at Essence Nail Spa, Lukoil, and Ice Cream on 9.

Casrell is accused of removing $100 cash and the cash drawer at Essence Nail Spa, two cash registers and cash from Ice Cream on 9, and $700 cash and the cash drawer at Lukoil.

Casrell was recently identified as a suspect in more than 30 commercial burglaries that have occurred throughout Monmouth, Middlesex and Ocean counties.

At 1:30 a.m. April 5, a commercial burglary occurred in Holmdel while members of a law enforcement task force were operating in Monmouth County, according to a press release issued by the Marlboro Police Department.

The suspects in the Holmdel burglary were subsequently stopped on Route 34 by Marlboro Police Officer Johnathan Gramcko.

After further investigation, Rachael Lovely, 33, of Newark, and Casrell were arrested and charged with committing the burglary in Holmdel.

Detectives continued their investigation, and Lovely and Casrell were also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of burglary tools, theft, burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and criminal mischief.

Casrell was placed in the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, in default of $113,000 bail.

According to the press release, further evidence revealed Casrell was allegedly responsible for committing commercial burglaries in Marlboro, Howell, Aberdeen Township, Colts Neck, Holmdel, Ocean Township, Plumsted Township, Old Bridge, Fair Haven, Berkeley, Upper Freehold Township, Manalapan and Shrewsbury Borough.
