A young, rebuilding Jackson Memorial High School boys tennis team comes into its next match April 30 at home against Toms River High School South with a 2-3 record, as the Jaguars gear up for the upcoming Ocean County Tournament. The tournament takes place at Bay Lea Park in Toms River on May 15 and 16. “Everyone is working hard and improving,” coach Chris Opdyke said. Only one starter is a senior: Bill Mitchell in first doubles, who teams with junior Nick Schlageter. Sophomore Callan Moody, junior Matt Keville and sophomore Sam Panieth man the singles spots. Moody has a good baseline game and serve, and Keville closes out points at the net. Panieth has performed consistently in different phases of the game.
Sophomore Federico Coria and freshman Justin Peivnik team up in second doubles. Sophomore Sagar Summers has contributed some fine games coming off the bench.
