RE/MAX of New Jersey has recently partnered with the New Jersey based nonprofit organization Move For Hunger. Move For Hunger was established in 2009 when brothers, Adam and Max Lowy of Lowy’s Moving Service, wanted to make a difference with the food that was left behind by the clients they moved.
Adam and Max began to notice that many clients were leaving canned goods and other nonperishable items behind after moving because they simply didn’t feel like taking the items to their new homes. The Lowy brothers decided to start asking clients if they would mind them collecting the food and dropping it off to local food banks. Naturally, people were thrilled with the idea.
With more than 120,000 people in Monmouth County struggling to find their next meal, the Lowy brothers developed the Move For Hunger concept and began to feed those in need throughout the state. It’s effortless for clients but makes a monumental difference in the lives of those who can’t be certain of when they’ll have their next meal.
Within the first month of implementing this program, the Lowy Moving Service was able to donate more than 300 pounds of food to local food banks. With such outstanding success, Max and Adam thought, why not take this idea nationally? Move For Hunger is now in 37 states as well as Canada. To date, they have donated over 4 million meals to those in need.
