Concert to feature Beethoven sonatas

FREEHOLD — The Downtown Concert Series at St. Peter’s Church, Throckmorton Street, will end its fifth season with Beethoven scholar and pianist Stephan Möller, who will present all 32 of Beethoven’s sonatas in eight concerts over seven days.

According to a press release, Möller first gained prominence as a prize winner at the 1985 International Beethoven Competition in Vienna.

Since then, his concert schedule has taken him to Japan, China, North America, South America and Europe.

“I can safely say this will be the first and last time Freehold will ever hear the complete Beethoven cycle live in performance. A great way to support this unique series is to sponsor a sonata for $100,” said Mark Hyzcko, the artistic director of the Downtown Concert Series.

“That sponsorship includes one complimentary ticket to the complete sonatas — eight concerts, eight tickets with reserved seating, sponsorship recognition in the concert program and during the concert, a Stephan Möller CD, as well as a Beethoven sonata sponsor certificate and the opening page of your sonata.”

“Beethoven: The Complete Sonatas” will be performed from May 16-23. Tickets for the concerts are $60 for adults and $20 for those age 18 and younger.

Individual tickets for each concert will be available at the door for $15.

Seating is limited, and tickets should be purchased in advance at www.downtownconcertseries.org. For more information, call 732-431-8383.
