 Women from the First United Methodist Church, 91 W. Main St., Freehold, will host a first-person history presentation about Sojourner Truth at noon on June 6.  The Selective Service is looking for men and women who would be willing to serve as members of local boards. Local board members are volunteers appointed by the president. They play an important community role closely connected with the nation’s defense.  The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County will host the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene Troupe in “Makht a Tsimes” (“Make a Fuss”) at 2 p.m. May 31. This 90-minute musical revue will feature new and classic Yiddish comedy and music performed in Yiddish with English translation subtitles.  The community is invited to an Empty Bowls event to benefit the Freehold Area Open Door Food Pantry and Feed All God’s Children Soup Kitchen, two organizations working to end hunger and food insecurity in Freehold Borough. The event will take place noon to 3 p.m. May 9 at St. Peter’s Parish House, 31 Throckmorton St., Freehold. There is a $15 minimum donation. Guests will be served a meal of soup and bread, and will choose a handcrafted bowl made by local students and area artists.
