Representatives of the state Department of Transportation (DOT) have announced that a major milling and resurfacing project will take place along Route 9 in Freehold Borough and Freehold Township.
According to Borough Engineer William Wentzien, the project is estimated to begin in May and end in October, with cleanup in November.
Information from the DOT, however, puts the timing of the project later in the year.
“The project’s design is currently being finalized and could be ready to advance to construction by the fall of this year, pending funding,” said Kevin Israel, a public information officer for the DOT.
There are three distinct sections to the 7-mile project:
From a location just north of Interstate 195 in Howell to just north of Route 524 (Elton-Adelphia Road) in Freehold Township.
From a location near Three Brooks Road in Freehold Township to just north of the Route 33 bypass in Freehold Township.
From a location just north of the horse walkway overpass at Freehold Raceway in Freehold Township to the area of Schibanoff Lane in Freehold Township.
