FREEHOLD — The Freehold Borough Human Relations Committee will host a Volunteer Day on June 13 in the Freehold Intermediate School gymnasium at the Park Avenue Elementary School complex.
The event will provide an opportunity for area residents to learn more about a variety of volunteer opportunities, according to Borough Councilman Ron Griffiths, who is the Borough Council’s liaison to the Human Relations Committee.
Volunteer Day will take place 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Griffiths said Freehold Borough officials recognize a need to help organizations in western Monmouth County that rely upon volunteers.
According to Griffiths, the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad and the Freehold Fire Department will be represented at Volunteer Day.
“We have also invited most of the town’s civic boards, committees, commissions and various fraternal, charitable and veterans organizations,” he said.
The Human Relations Committee is chaired by Carol Lida. Griffiths said Lida and Vice Chairwoman Gianna Dell’Omo are working with their fellow committee members to make Volunteer Day an exciting event.
“The event is especially important to our first responders,” he said. “Without volunteers, the fire department and the first aid squad would find it difficult to maintain their current excellent level of service to area residents.”
Griffiths said nonprofit charitable organizations that are in need of volunteers may be eligible to participate in Volunteer Day. Representatives of area organizations may contact him at [email protected] for more information.
