MANALAPAN — The Manalapan- Englishtown Community Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse will hold a free Narcan training session at the municipal building, Route 522, at 6 p.m. May 21.
The training is a joint project of the Jersey Shore Addiction Services health care organization and the Barnabas Health Institute for Prevention, with funding from the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services of the New Jersey Department of Human Services, according to a press release from the township.
The training is open to anyone who is at risk of an opioid overdose or family members and friends. All eligible participants will receive a free Narcan (naloxone) kit and a treatment voucher for 30 days of free substance abuse treatment to use or distribute to any person who needs medicationassisted treatment. In addition, education will be provided about how to administer Narcan to reverse a heroin/opioid overdose.
The training is limited to a maximum of 25 persons. Admittance will be on a firstcome, first-served basis. For more information about the Narcan training in general or for other training locations in Monmouth County, visit www.jsashc.org.
