Four seniors receive ROTC scholarships

Four members of Red Bank Catholic High School’s (RBC) Class of 2015 have been offered ROTC scholarships.

U.S. Army Major Ryan Howell, an assistant professor of military science at Rutgers University, came to RBC on May 18 to present the scholarships to Michael Pace and Tom Montano, both of Eatontown, Mathew Lamb of Middletown and Matthew Pieringer of Shrewsbury.

Pieringer was also awarded an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Capt. Michael Rodgers, a West Point graduate and currently a company commander in the New Jersey National Guard, came to RBC to present the appointment.

“This is quite an honor for RBC,” said Principal Robert Abatemarco in a press release. “We are now recognized as a preferred ROTC high school in the state of New Jersey. We are very proud of these students and are excited for their future.”
