On May 22, my wife, who volunteers with the Plumsted Township Trap, Neuter, Release Committee, received an urgent call from one of our neighbors telling her there was a cat that had been stuck in a tree in the neighborhood for a day-and-a-half.
After seeing that it would be impossible to reach the cat with our ladder, our neighbor contacted the local animal control officer, John Bilyk, who came out and requested assistance from the New Egypt Fire Company. Four of the fire company’s volunteers, Richard Byrne, Chris Chaney, Charlie Spencer and Ryan Sech, responded with a ladder truck and Charlie Spencer was able to get the cat down and return it to its owner.
The neighborhood would like to express our gratitude to the fire company and the animal control officer for their assistance.
