CRANBURY: Mets grab Little League playoff win

The Dr. Spielman Family Dentistry Mets rallied from behind to tie and then win their Cranbury-Plainsboro Little League playoff opener on Saturday.
The Z Enterprise Phillies struck first, plating five runs over the first three innings with key hits by Justin Pormilli, Adam MacMillan and Jake Bornstein. But Connor McDowell started off the Mets with a two-run home run in the first and a triple later in the game. Shane Johnson was on base all day, going 4-for-4 with three doubles.
The Phillies stayed closed behind solid pitching from Luke Bornstein and Hayden Nichols, backed up by great plays in the field by Evan Kohut and Brendan O’Connell. The Mets rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth, with Ethan Guy scoring the tying run and then the winning run hit home by Stephen Avis in the eighth.
