Seniors set to say farewell

The Allentown High School Class of 2015 will graduate during commencement exercises to be held at the Patriots Theater at the War Memorial, Trenton, on June 19 at 6:30 p.m. The theme of this year’s graduation ceremony is “We’re on Our Way.”

There are 321 graduates in the Class of 2015. The valedictorian, Varun Jane, and the salutatorian, Michele Foley, will address their classmates, family members, friends, teachers and administrators.

Speaking a few days prior to graduation, Foley said she had mixed feelings about reaching the end of her high school career.

“I would like to say that while I am sad to be leaving Allentown and parting from my teachers and classmates, I am excited to see what the future holds for the class of 2015,” Foley said. “This is a great group who have already accomplished so much. I can’t wait for all of the accomplishments to come. It is bittersweet to be finished with high school, it is a hard goodbye, but a happy hello to new opportunities.”

Other speakers at graduation will include Principal Constance Embley and Upper Freehold Regional School District Superintendent of Schools Dick Fitzpatrick.

Vice Principal Lynn Folino said her two favorite parts of graduation are the reading of the names of the graduates and the procession to leave the ceremony.

“When we read the names, we get one last hug or handshake from our kids,” Folino said. “They are always so appreciative of what we have all done and experienced together for the last four years. The procession is fun because the teachers line up and form a receiving line to congratulate all the new graduates. It is a touching moment to witness. The Class of 2015 is an exceptional class and will be missed. I wish them all the best of luck.”
