Writer finds presidential candidates lacking

For the past six years, the Obama administration has elevated incompetence even beyond the reach of ridicule. When one disillusioned voter was asked what he thought were President Barack Obama’s three biggest mistakes, he simply replied, “First, his accepting the nomination. Second, taking the oath of office. And third, not resigning.”

As for the other party, it appears that the GOP crazy train will have lots of contenders vying for the Republican presidential nomination — or, as a New York reporter wrote, “welcome to the fringe festival.”

First we have that deep thinker from Texas, Rick Perry, who enlightened all that “freedom of religion doesn’t mean freedom from religion.”

Next, we have Ted “Less Jefferson, More Jesus” Cruz, a real favorite of the cognitively compromised tea party crowd.

Then there is — looking forward eagerly to World War III — John Bolton, followed by “open borders” Jeb Bush. More than a few GOP hopefuls, including Scott Walker and Mike Huckabee, have acknowledged that God has given them instructions to run for president.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I tend to distrust any candidate — Republican or Democrat — who knows so well what God wants them to do because notice that it always coincides with their own desires. More often than not, it is not the people who don’t believe in God who worry me, it’s some of the ones who do.

At this point, all I can say to the GOP is thanks a diaper load for not putting up some good “traditional” conservative Republican candidates that people in good conscience could vote for.
