LAWRENCE — HomeFront is one of 10 national finalists in the 2015 Let’s Play Video Contest sponsored by Dr Pepper Snapple and the non-profit KaBOOM!
From June 15 to June 26, HomeFront supporters, community members and play advocates can vote on facebook.com/letsplay. The top five organizations with the most votes will be awarded a grant. Winners will be announced on June 29. HomeFront is asking for your vote.
The video contest is part of Let’s Play, an initiative by Dr Pepper Snapple Group to provide kids and families with the tools, places and inspiration to make active play a daily priority. Organizations nationwide were asked to submit videos illustrating their need for places to play for a chance to win one of five $20,000 grants, which can be used to build a new playground.
“We are so excited about the possibility of winning this grant,” said Connie Mercer, HomeFront executive director and founder. “The video was totally homegrown — produced, edited and submitted by staff. The children in the video were an integral part of its production. They clearly understood what was at stake.
“If we win the grant, it will be used to build a playground at our new Family Campus. The timing could not be better to help us meet this critical need,” she said.
