HILLSBOROUGH: College students share the news of their graduation day

Recent graduate Marissa Sprofera, a Hillsborough resident, was awarded the Jacobs Music Steinway Award at the Chestnut Hill College’s honors convocation on April 26 at the Philadelphia college. Marissa graduated with a bachelor of science in music education.
The Steinway award is presented to a junior or senior who has demonstrated an record of participation and attendance at music department events and personifies the mission and values of the college.
– Dana Mortensen of Manville earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary early childhood at commencement exercises for 251 undergraduates, 161 graduates and two doctoral students Saturday, May 16, at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morris Township.
– Christina Kwon of Hillsborough received a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering cum laude in graduation ceremonies May 20 at Wilkes University inWilkes-Barre, Pa. Wilkes awarded 680 doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s degrees.
– Hillsborough’s Alyssa Lauren Brisebois was one of 257 seniors who received diplomas Sunday, May 17, during the 113th annual commencement exercises at Barton College in Wilson, N.C. She received her bachelor of science in nursing degree.
– Matthew Robert Dupras of Hillsborough graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in accounting economics and business administration from McDaniel College in Westminster, MD, on May 23. McDaniel awarded 358 bachelor’s degrees during the 145th commencement.
Civil rights attorney Victor McTeer, a McDaniel alumnus, was the commencement speaker. A posthumous honorary degree was awarded to Ira Zepp, human rights activist and former McDaniel professor who participated in the historic march on Selma, Ala., with Dr. Martin Luther King in 1965.
– Jonathon Kaiser of Hillsborough was recognized at the 194th commencement celebration of University of the Sciences on Wednesday, May 20, in Philadelphia.
Jonathon graduated with a doctor of pharmacy degree with a minor in statistics. He received the Cantor Family Prize given to a pharmacy doctoral candidate for academic distinction and excellence in undergraduate research.
– Jaclyn Tomasetti of Hillsborough graduated from Widener University in Chester, Pa., on May 15 with a master of social work degree.
Widener held ceremonies for graduate and undergraduate students who completed requirements for graduation for the summer 2014, fall 2014 and spring 2015 semesters.
– Monique R. Verastegui, daughter of Emily and Max Verastegui of Hillsborough, graduated with a doctorate of physical therapy at New York Medical College’s 156th commencement on May 21.
She is the holder of a bachelor of science degree in exercise science from the University of Delaware in 2012.

