HIGHTSTOWN: EW PAL soccer round-up

The U9 Girls Arsenal completed their Spring season with two come-from-behind road victories. The first was a 3-1 win over Berkeley, as Rachael Charsky, Abigail Carter and Charlotte Garcia each tallied second-half goals.
Win number two was a 2-1 decision over a tough Ocean Township Fever team. Charsky and Angelina Benitez each had a goal after the Arsenal fell behind 1-0. Rahda Ghate and Jordyn McGeorge shared goalkeeping duties in both games.
With the win, the Arsenal completed a second straight undefeated season at 9-0-1 while winning a second straight MOSA title. The team is 18-0-2 over the past two years.
The U13 Storm ended their season on a high note with a 3-1 win over the Jackson Eclipse. With East Windsor trailing 1-0 near the end of the first half Grace O’Leary headed a ball at center past her shadowing defender and raced to center a cross to Laila Aly for the gentle tap in to tie it.
Early in the second half Payton Rupp juked her defender, placing a ball behind the last defender for the onrushing Mia Sandoval to deliver the 2-1 lead. Rupp duplicated the effort, finding O’Leary in a similar position to finish the scoring. Keeper Nikki Masone made several difficult saves and recorded a clean sheet; aided by outstanding play from Sweeper Danielle Faup and Backs Jessica Gratkowski, Lili Iavarone and Erin DiPiano.
