The Long Branch Free Public Library at 328 Broadway will host an exhibit of artwork created by junior and senior students of Long Branch High School. The exhibit will run through June at the library’s Community Room.
Curated by Long Branch High School art teacher, Frank Mainieri, the exhibit features the works of students of varying abilities in a variety of mediums, including watercolors, pencil, oils, acrylics and charcoal.
The high school offers classes in foundational art, drawing, high-focus painting and Advanced Placement skills, where students learn to mix paint, work with tints and tones, use watercolors and develop observational drawing skills.
Mainieri has been an art teacher at the high school for five years. He and fellow instructor, Roger Derrick, encourage their students to find inspiration in subjects they feel emotionally connected with or have a passion for, and both educators find it rewarding to see their new students discover their talent, according to a press release.
