Weichert Corporate Housing acquires Basic Overnight Quarters

Weichert Corporate Housing Inc., one of the world’s leading providers of temporary housing solutions, announced today that it has completed its acquisition of Basic Overnight Quarters, LLC (BOQ), a Washington, D.C.- based provider of furnished apartments. BOQ currently operates 220 apartments and is listed as a long-term lodging provider on the Transportation, Delivery and Relocation Solutions Schedule 48 maintained by the U.S. General Services Administration. Through BOQ, Weichert Corporate Housing has added a business segment that will allow it to deliver its best-in-class customer service and cost-effective housing solutions to government agencies, contractors and people serving the United States here and abroad.

Since its founding in 2008, BOQ has built a solid reputation for excellence within the government services market, providing temporary duty (TDY), short-term and longterm housing to the U.S. Department of State, Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, U.S. Coast Guard, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Forest Service, among others. Over the past seven years, BOQ has provided government housing to agencies in such locations as California, Florida, Hawaii, Kansas and Pennsylvania. Going forward, BOQ will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Weichert Corporate Housing.

“Working together, our two companies will now be able to provide furnished housing to clients across the entire United States,” said Frank Palestrini, president of Weichert Corporate Housing. “Backed by the support of the entire Weichert Family of Companies, we can also offer an array of other real estate-related services, knowledge and expertise to BOQ’s base of clients.”

Joe Szoboszlay, BOQ’s former owner, and Howard Biddle and Chris Basista, members of the senior management team, will remain with the company in key leadership positions. “Joining the Weichert Family of Companies will bring resources to BOQ that will enable us to take advantage of opportunities never before possible. Our team can’t wait to get started,” said Szoboszlay.

“Joe and his team — along with their extensive government experience — add tremendous value to Weichert Corporate Housing’s operation and growth potential. We are very excited about BOQ’s future,” added Mark Pooley, regional vice president of business development for Weichert Corporate Housing.

Weichert Corporate Housing emerged in 2001 as a unique temporary housing solution offered to corporate clients relocating to New York City and across the country with the goal of delivering greater cost savings while providing a best-in-class level of service. In 2014, the company opened a regional center in Annandale, Va., to better serve clients in Northern Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
