Salvatore A. Amato

Mr. Salvatore Amato passed away July 1, 2015, at the J.F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, he had resided in Freehold for the past 18 years. He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold, and a proud United States Air Force World War II veteran.

Mr. Amato worked for the United States Postal Service in Brooklyn for over 40 years before he retired. He was best known as being “Santa’s regional helper” for more than 30 years and was a lifelong New York Yankees fan as well as a horse racing fan.

Mr. Amato was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary, in 2001; and his sister, Josephine Addonizio.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Frank and Martha Amato, Joseph Amato, and Tina Marie and Ralph Broccoli; three siblings, Joseph Amato, Anthony Amato and Ida Marrazzo; and seven grandchildren, Jennifer Amato; Kristina Amato; Danielle and her husband, Ryan, Stango; Maria Broccoli; Lisa and her husband, Brian, Dedes; Vincent Sapienza; Christopher and his wife, Alessandra, Sapienza.

Funeral arrangements were made by Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 N., Manalapan. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Freehold, followed by interment at Forest Green Park Cemetery, Marlboro.
