CRANBURY: Township bans public urination

CRANBURY — The township has officially made urinating in public illegal.
The Township Committee unanimously voted Monday night to adopt an ordinance to amend township code to prohibit urinating in public.
“You had 300 years to do it and now the time is gone,” Mayor James Taylor said.
During the committee’s conversation about the new code, Mayor Taylor said the township needs a new portable toilet in Heritage Park because the door on the current one does not close.
“We need a new one or we might have people in violation of this ordinance,” he said.
As per township code, violators could fall subject to a fine of no more than $1,250, imprisonment for up to 90 days or a period of community service not exceeding 90 days or a combination of all three penalties.
