Grants will boost school projects

COLTS NECK — The New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA) announced that three grants have recently been executed for the Colts Neck K-8 School District through the SDA’s Regular Operating District (ROD) grant program.

Grant execution signifies completion of the application process and the start of funding being issued to school districts through the grant program, according to a press release.

In May 2013, Gov. Chris Christie announced the largest single grant offering in the program’s history, making approximately $500 million in funding available for projects throughout the state’s 559 Regular Operating Districts and 21 County Vocational Technical School Districts.

Between state and local contributions, the total project costs of the eligible projects are estimated to exceed $1.2 billion, according to the press release.

The projects in Colts Neck represent $1.25 million in total estimated costs, including state grants of $501,320 which leverages the local contribution of $751,980. The SDA has executed $5.9 million in grants to Colts Neck schools since the program’s inception.

Two grants will fund boiler and generator replacements at the Cedar Drive Middle School. The remaining grant will provide funding for a generator replacement at the Conover Road Elementary School, according to the press release.
