NORTH BRUNSWICK — A North Brunswick resident has been arrested in connection with assaults on men of Indian descent.
According to the North Brunswick Police Department, several assaults in the Governor’s Point and Colony Oaks neighborhoods in the last 18 months have been reported. All of the assaults were committed upon men of Indian descent in what police described as a random and sporadic manner.
All of the men who were assaulted provided a similar description of the suspect. In each case, the suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of police officers.
Patrol and detective units were dispatched to the area again on July 1 after a passing motorist located an Indian man laying on the side of the road and bleeding from his head. Police officers provided aid to the man until the arrival of an EMS crew.
The officers began a search of the Governor’s Point area and subsequently arrested Nyle Kilgore, 24, of North Brunswick. The arrest took place at 12:38 p.m. on Hartland Commons in North Brunswick, according to police.
Police said Kilgore was initially held in custody on charges of aggravated assault and bias intimidation, according to North Brunswick Police Director Kenneth Mc- Cormick.
He has since been released from the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, North Brunswick, according to Mc- Cormick.
Police believe there may be additional victims from the area who have not reported being assaulted. Anyone with relevant information or anyone who may have been a victim to these assaults is asked to contact 732-247-0922, ext. 420.
